First 'Shakespeare 4 Kidz' DVDs delivered by Pink Pigeon

Leading creative authoring house Pink Pigeon have produced the first ever DVDs of the 16th Century bard's plays tailored to children for the Shakespeare 4 Kidz theatre company.
Aiming to introduce and inspire younger audiences to investigate the playwright's classic work, Shakespeare 4 Kidz have created entertaining, authentic adaptations of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', 'The Tempest', 'Twelfth Night', 'Macbeth' and Romeo and Juliet' by modernising the language and adding catchy musical numbers. Starting a decade ago at a school in Surrey, Shakespeare 4 Kidz is now a national phenomenon, playing to capacity crowds across the UK, with audiences totalling over 160,000 in 2005 alone.
In response to popular demand, the theatre company decided to launch a DVD series of the productions, with audio post production house China Blue recommending Pink Pigeon for the job. Of prime importance was to ensure the video encoding did justice to the high quality of footage supplied, especially as 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' had been shot in high definition. Pink Pigeon used their top of the range Cinema Craft encoder to master optimal settings, enabling the best results possible for DVD production. The combination of DVD Studio Pro and DVD After Edit were used to create simple navigation and facilitate smooth and responsive menu functionality.
Shakespeare 4 Kidz' Managing Director Lorraine Turner said: "We needed the look and feel of the DVDs to replicate the core values of our productions: professional, kid-friendly and fun. Pink Pigeon explained the DVD process every step of the way and allowing us to work closely with them vastly helped achieve our requirements - we're delighted with the results and will definitely be using them again for future projects."
