Avid Sign Pacific Quay Contract With Siemens Business Services

Avid Technology and Siemens Business Services (SBS) have announced the signing of a contract to supply the complete news, interactive and production system for BBC Scotland’s new state-of-the-art broadcasting headquarters at Pacific Quay Glasgow and a further seven BBC centres across Scotland.
The project includes an enterprise scale deployment of Avid® Interplay™, the world’s first nonlinear production workflow engine; Avid Unity ISIS™, for enterprise-scale shared storage; and over 250 Avid editing clients, ranging from Avid iNEWS® Instinct™ and Interplay Assist, to Media Composer® and Symphony™ Nitris®. The production system will be high definition-enabled throughout, using Avid’s DNxHD™ codec.
Siemens Business Services (SBS) announced earlier in April 2006 its contract win with BBC Scotland for the design, build and implementation of the broadcast technology and infrastructure as part of the move to a new headquarters building in 2007. As the prime systems integrator, Siemens Business Services is responsible for delivery of the complete technology solution.
