Low-cost news production package from Avid

Avid Technology Inc have announced the release of a low-cost non-linear news production package consisting of a complete digital non-linear news production and play-to-air system for small and mid-size television stations.
With the Avid Unity LANshare at its core, the promotional package is less expensive than tape-based counterparts, offering true non-linear newsgroup editing, shared storage and playlist automation control for a workflow that efficiently manages stories from editing to air.
The low-cost package is ideal for stations that are committed to an all-digital infrastructure, but must work within tighter budgets. A basic system includes four NewsCutter XP Mobile systems, an Avid Unity LANshare system, an Avid AirSPACE server and CountDown software for playlist automation.
With the system package, a station can be up and running with a digital non-linear newsroom solution in a matter of days. Connecting an optional Avid Xdeck – a direct-ingest solution – adds ingest to the workflow to give broadcasters a true acquisition-to-air solution, still at an affordable price.
