AVID DEBUTS ‘THE AVID VILLAGE’ AT PRODUCTION SHOW

AT the Production Show 2001, Avid Technology have teamed up with four of their Premier Resellers to create The Avid Village, a large area of the show floor dedicated to the latest technology to ‘Make, Manage and Move Media’.
McMillan, Tyrell, Altered Images and Root 6 are all contributing to the feature. At the heart of The Avid Village is a stage for live presentations where Avid are demonstrating their solution-based approach to high end post-production.
The presentations show how projects can flow through the various stages of post-production by use of the Avid Unity family of shared storage products and network-based media service applications. Networked to Unity MediaNet is the Avid Symphony Universal V3 finishing system, the newly launched V4 of Avid|DS non-linear post-production environment, the latest version of Digidesign ProTools and V1.5 of the SOFTIMAGE|XSI (pictured) non-linear animation system.
Jeff Stewart, Avid’s International Product Director, said: “By putting Avid Unity MediaNet at the heart of the post production process, customers gain improved workflow and interoperability, enabling them to create richer content faster, more creatively and more affordably in a collaborative environment.”
The Avid Village also features a hands-on demonstration area where visitors can take a closer look at Avid Symphony, a Mac-based Media Composer XL 9000 with the new version 10.0 software and Avid|DS HD.
