AP announce one-day NewsWatch06 forum
A one-day forum NewsWatch06 will bring together key industry figures and opinion formers to debate the current issues facing all of today’s news users.
The event, hosted by The Associated Press and Bournemouth Media School, is being run in conjunction with Press Gazette, who will be covering the day’s discussions. With contributors ranging from Kevin Marsh, Editor of BBC College of Journalism and former Editor of Radio 4’s Today, to Simon Hinde, Head of Daily News, AOL and news blogger Alfie Dennen, it promises to be a day of lively and challenging debate.
The Associated Press and Bournemouth Media School have undertaken new research specifically for the event that looks at the future of news and how it is consumed, comparing and contrasting the views of young news consumers in both the USA and UK with those of people in the business of news.
Delegates will be invited to vote on these findings and other key issues of the day – posted on the NewsWatch06 website: www.newswatch06.com. The survey can be completed online.
Nigel Baker, Executive Director, Associated Press Television News, commented: “I think news companies will have to be more scientific in how they examine audience needs in the future and this forum will provide a fascinating insight into the shifting news landscape and how this challenges traditional approaches to newsgathering and distribution."
NewsWatch06 takes place at the Bournemouth Media School on Thursday, 8 June 2006.
Delegates attending span all media sectors; print, terrestrial and online broadcasters, academics and educators, production companies and communicators.
