The Mill takes its Flames to a new level
The Mill, one of the world’s most influential and pioneering post-production groups, has boosted the firepower at its London and New York offices by upgrading all of its 17 Discreet Flame systems to Flame 9.5 and its five Discreet Smoke systems to Smoke 7.
It has also added a new Flame running on Linux and upgraded its Autodesk Backdraft media management and I/O software. This installation represents the single biggest systems upgrade order for Autodesk, and will help The Mill continue to lead the way as an award-winning visual effects facility.
Roy Trosh, group technical director at The Mill, said: “Over the years Flame has been integral to our success – it’s the undisputed leader for compositing and visual effects for commercials, music videos and television series. Just about every job we do passes through Flame – from the award-winning 'Doctor Who' television series and high-profile commercials for Carlsberg, Orange or Adidas to the latest music promos for Coldplay.”
He added: “We’ve been a Flame advocate since the very start and have been instrumental in giving feedback to help its ongoing development. The Linux platform is another step change on from our existing hardware – Flame on Linux is lightning quick and will allow us to further improve our productivity for our clients.”
