THE MILL COMPLETE MAJOR EXPANSION
OSCAR winning visual effects facility, The Mill, have just completed a 5,000 square foot expansion of their Great Marlborough Street head-office.
The new office space, located directly next door to the prime Soho site, has been developed in response to the rapid growth of The Mill's interactive division Mill Lab and the launch of new division, Mill TV. The move will also give expanding Mill Film more space.
Officially launched this month to concentrate on visual effects in episodic television, Mill TV already has three confirmed projects and is headed by Mill 3D veteran Dave Throssell.
Interactive division, Mill Lab was launched in the early part of 2001 and has been inundated with exciting and innovative projects to run alongside traditional advertising. So far the diversity of the work includes complex interactive menu's and a promo created entirely in Flash for Orbital's DVD 'The Altogether', design, direction and creation of TV idents for the re-branding of MTV Base, interactive games for the Guardian's learn.co.uk site and Orbital, and a recent commercial and website design for SONY PS_2.
Mill Film are currently employing over 100 freelance visual effects people to work on ‘Harry Potter and the Scorcher’s Stone’, and Ridley Scott's next feature, ‘Black Hawk Down’. Mill Film recently completed visual effects and motion control work on ‘Moulin Rouge’, ‘Enigma’, ‘Tomb Raider’, ‘Cats and Dogs’ and ‘A Knights Tale’.
Also launched this year, BEAM.TV have now grown into a global network of over 25 post-production partners. The Mill-hosted service provides fast and efficient management of on-line video via a series of tailored services. BEAM.TV partners including Nice Shoes in New York, Laser-Pacific in Hollywood, GTN in Michigan, Rushes in London, Condor Post Production/Digital Media in Amsterdam, Atkinson TV in Cape Town and NTT Media Lab in Tokyo.
