FREE DIGITAL DEAL COMES TO IRELAND

BRITISH Sky Broadcasting (BskyB) and Eircom, Irish state owned Telcoms company, have announced their new marketing agreement promotion, giving a free digital set-top box and minidish to television viewers in Ireland.
New initiatives from each company will open up a new front in the digital revolution, giving Irish consumers an unrivalled selection of digital TV viewing, internet access and mobile phone services.
The joint promotion includes a free digital set-top box and minidish from BskyB, high speed internet access and discount packages on telephone costs from eircom.
In addition, customers from Eircom’s mobile subsidiary, Eircell, will have access to Sky Sports content on WAP phones. Eircell is the only Irish mobile phone operator to currently provide access to this Sky Sports content.
At present, Eircom are in negotiations with BskyB about joint opportunities in relation to launching and developing services over DSL (digital subscriber line) technology.
