Boxer TV-Access to evaluate wireless interactive access

Digital broadcaster Boxer TV-Access is to evaluate an innovative Television+Wireless interactive solution that would enable customers to order interactive TV content via the mobile phone and the web.
The Wireless Interactive Solution (WIS), which was designed by entrepreneurial Swedish TV solutions company Television+Wireless, enables individual viewers to order programmes anytime from anywhere in mobile range to any Boxer-TV Access set-top box.
WIS, which uses infrastructure provided by global enterprise and integration company Sybase, was created to help TV network operators form interactive relationships with individual viewers, rather than just one member of each household.
The CEO of Boxer TV-Access, Crister Fritzson, said: "As a competitive broadcaster, we are always looking for innovation to differentiate our services and add value to the customer experience. I believe Television+Wireless' WIS offers this."
While TV customers are currently activating set-top return channels at lower rates than operators had expected, the developers expect WIS to encourage increased revenue and customer retention by providing customers with easy-to-use, familiar technology.
Malte Lilliestrale, the founder of Television+Wireless, said: "We believe WIS directly addresses a need in the broadcasting industry today. WIS provides two new user-friendly channels to increase customer interactivity and our partner, Sybase Inc., provides a robust infrastructure to handle these higher customer loads. We look forward to assisting Boxer-TV Access in providing this service to its broad customer base."
WIS will be on display at IBC 2002 in Hall 1 on stand 155.
