Interkabel chooses Irdeto Access for digital cable content security

Irdeto Access, a world leader in content security and a subsidiary of multinational media group Naspers, has signed a contract with Interkabel to provide conditional access for IN.DI, the latest digital television initiative in Belgium.
Interkabel - the Belgian umbrella organisation for the four Flemish cable operators, WVEM, Integan, Interelectra and PBE - will deploy Irdeto PIsys for Digital TV, joining the expanding list of more than six Dutch operators who have launched the system in the last year.
IN.DI offers Interkabel’s 770.000 subscribers the benefits of digital television such as a larger choice of television channels, superior picture and sound quality and an electronic programme guide, at no extra cost. Subscribers just have to purchase a set top box and a smart card, as the digital service is offered at no additional cost above the analogue service.
Irdeto Access will supply Interkabel with its content security solution, Irdeto PIsys for Digital TV, to assure that the IN.DI content will only be accessible to the company’s paying subscribers. Irdeto PIsys for digital TV already has a proven track record in securing content for 55 large-scale network operators worldwide.
