SCOTTISH ENTERPRISE ANNOUNCE £25M FOR INDUSTRY

SCOTTISH Enterprise are to invest up to £25million in the development of the country’s creative industries over the next five years.
Ian Ritchie, Scottish Enterprise Board Member, said: "Scotland has a great deal of talent in the content industries such as television and film production. People are already beginning to work together on projects which make the most of ideas both here and abroad. This strategy will, with the co-operation of the industries, ensure that Scotland achieves international recognition both for its talent and for its innovation."
Key areas for action include developing skills, promoting an international reputation and exploiting new technology.
The investment is planned to stimulate growth of the creative industries sector by 30 per cent and to raise exports in this area to around 15 per cent of the total Scottish export tally. As a result, between 1,500 and 2,000 highly skilled jobs are expected to be created.
Proposed projects include centres for the Scottish creative industries in London and New York and the development in Glasgow of a digital media centre.
