SILK OPT FOR SMOOTH DAR SOUND IN SOHO

SILK Sound, the Soho-based recording facility, have chosen to implement a network of four 24-track Soundstation STORM audio workstations from Digital Audio Research (DAR) the UK based manufacturer of workstations and disk recorders, as part of their £1 million refurbishment.
DAR have also developed a central sound effects management system for Silk Sound, based on their CDAdvance audio interface system.
Robbie Weston, spokesperson for Silk Sound said: “We gave the DAR team our OPUS handbook and said here’s what we can do at the moment. To their credit they demonstrated that STORM did all of that, as well as the other things we wanted. The D-net networking has delivered in every respect, and the customised central sound effects management system is great. CDAdvance is just stunning in the way it works. We now have a 200Gb server just for our sound effects, and can audition and scrub in place directly from each STORM.”
Silk Sound will completely refurbish each of their four studios and transfer room, reinforcing Silk Sound’s theme of a fully networked operational environment.
