NEW FILM PRODUCTION INITIATIVE LAUNCHED
A BRAND new short film and script development initiative has been launched representing a major investment in film production in the South West.
The South West Production Fund is an initiative established by The South West Media Development Agency in partnership with HTV West, Carlton Television, West Country region and Kodak.
HTV Arts Editor Abigail Davies said: “HTV is committed to developing and supporting a healthy and vibrant drama production base in the west of England. For this reason, we’re delighted to be a partner in this important new initiative which offers enhanced opportunities for filmmakers in the region.”
The scheme aims to support the production of drama both in terms of short films and script development by filmmakers and writers based in the South West. It will offer access to funding to make short films for the cinema and broadcast, and to develop new feature film scripts.
The fund will provide grants in the range of £15,000 to £28,000 for the production of short films and awards up to £5,000 for script development. Kodak will offer an award of free film stock to the value of £1,000 to one of the productions supported by the South West Production Fund.
The closing date for applications to the South West Production Fund is November 20.
