SONY INVEST IN £10 MILLION VILLAGE

SONY have announced a £10 million investment in a 'Sony Village' for their current sites in Baskingstoke with the aim of housing an additional 300 people.
Miles Flint, President of Sony Broadcast and Professional Europe (BPE), said: “The investment is based upon the solid and continual growth of Sony in the UK coupled with the expansion of our research and development activities in Europe. This required a fundamental review of how to accommodate our staff in the future.”
Sony have already established strong links with the local community and currently support the local hospital radio station (HRB), and contributed to a living history museum and the Queen Mary Sixth Form College.
The new office environment will provide over 20,000(sqm) of upgraded and expanded office space that will accommodate a number of autonomous Sony businesses. These new facilities will provide state of the art laboratories, computer rooms and technical areas appropriate for the diverse job functions housed within a 21st Century technology company.
Sony will conduct focus group sessions with employees to decide which leisure facilities to include at the site
The two-year project, which will be known as the ‘Sony Village’, will be managed on behalf of all Sony businesses involved by Project Director David Brodie.
