BBC awards development deals to two NFTS filmmakers

Following nominations for National Film and Television School graduates at the Oscars and BAFTAs, The BBC has announced it is awarding development deals to two NFTS documentary filmmakers.
Now in its second year, the BBC/NFTS deal sees the brightest new documentary talent fostered by the experience and expertise of the BBC.
Previous recipients of the deal include 2005 graduate Daniel Vernon whose film made under the deal, 'The Man Who Loved Sherlock Holmes', was transmitted by the BBC on Boxing Day 2005.
New documentary filmmakers to benefit from the Development deal are Matthew Killip and Masood Khan, whose work impressed selection panellists Richard Klein, BBC's Commissioning Editor for Documentaries, Todd Austin, Editor, 'One Life' and Krishan Arora, Independents Executive. The deal provides funding for them to work with independent production companies and BBC Factual executives to develop their ideas further.
Congratulating Mathew and Masood NFTS Director Nik Powell said: “This Development Deal with BBC Factual is a fantastic commitment by the BBC to finding the best new talent and giving them a chance to show what they can achieve.”
Previous documentary graduates from the NFTS include Sundance Documentary prize-winner Sean McAllister, 'Liberace of Baghdad', Nick Broomfield, 'His Big White Self', 'Aileen: Life and Death of a Serial Killer', Molly Dineen, winner of the 2003 Grierson Lifetime Achievement Award, Cannes-award-winner Kim Longinotto, 'Sisters in Law', Rodrigo Vazquez, 'Death of an Idealist', Emily James, 'What would Jesus Drive?' and Dominic Savage winner of Royal Television Society and Edinburgh Festival awards for 'Out of Control'.
