IBC APPOINTS OWEN AS EXHIBITION CHAIRMAN

THE IBC Management Committee have appointed Peter Owen as their Exhibition Chairman.
Owen is a regular contributor to IBC. He has attended every show since 1970 and presented his first conference paper in 1972. Currently, he sits on the IBC Management Committee representing SMPTE for whom he is an independent international governor and the recipient of their 2000 Presidential Proclamation Award.
IBC President, John Wilson, said: “Peter is well known within the electronic media business and brings with him a wealth of experience. His appointment from a manufacturing background is a further example of our philosophy ‘By the Industry for the Industry’.”
A founder member of Quantel in 1973, Owen held the posts of Head of Broadcast and Chief Engineer. In 1984 he became Director of Engineering where his duties included responsibility for customer support, technical standards and management of the company’s exhibition, engineering and creative departments.
Since the early 1990’s Owen has concentrated on the emerging technologies of film and HD. This year Owen decided on early retirement from Quantel.
