SGL Unveils Latest Version Flashnet Storage Management Software At IBC
At IBC, Software Generation Limited (SGL) unveiled the latest version of its data archive and management software, FlashNet 6.2.
FlashNet 6.2 adds major enhancements to the already fully functional version of FlashNet. This includes enhanced error monitoring for both storage devices and media; additional functionality within StorageManager to allow manual movement of material between different layers of storage hierarchy with enhanced grouping functionality, specifically designed for Sports environments; and enhanced integration with News systems such as Avid iNews and Thomson Grass Valley Aurora as well as an enhanced API for integration with SGL's many partners.
As an extension to SGL FlashNet's powerful functionality, SGL StorageManager allows broadcasters and content providers to apply 'LifeCycle' rules to move, copy and manage material within the archive storage hierarchy, based on their specific business requirements.
Rapidly becoming an integral part of the lifecycle and media management solutions adopted by all of the leading video server, automation, NLE and asset management vendors worldwide, FlashNet 6.2 is the only fully tested, integrated and qualified archive management provider to Avid Technology's Interplay non-linear workflow engine.
The SGL FlashNet 6 interface allows users of the Avid Interplay system to manage their archive storage transparently for any number of users, resulting in a highly integrated, intelligent workflow.
A number of key customers are now using the Avid Interplay system including Creation Club (Germany), AVI Drome (Holland) and SBS (Holland).
FlashNet 6.2 provides broadcasters with a scalable solution with unlimited storage capacity, unrivalled redundancy and resilience. Available on the Microsoft Windows SQL platform, SGL FlashNet 6.2 with Microsoft Clustering technology is fully scalable to serve the smallest regional broadcaster or the largest global entertainment companies.
Bernie Walsh, SGL Sales Director commented: "Over the last four years, the SGL FlashNet name has become synonymous with digital archives for major broadcasters worldwide. FlashNet delivers a secure storage environment that broadcasters including NBC, CBS, MTV3, Canal+, BBC, Star, CNBC, GMTV, RTM, MTV, TV Azteca have all invested in."
More information may be found at www.sgluk.com or see SGL at IBC on stand: 8.131e.
