SONY Broadcast and Professional Europe (BPE) will be emphasising the importance of high quality consultancy and design services at an early stage of a broadcasters digital migration at the News World Forum in Barcelona on November 14.
Sony are promoting their range of consultancy and consumer support services that they have developed to help broadcasters select and implement the digital production technology best suited to their operations
Norman Rouse, manager for News Systems at Sony BPE, said: “In the news arena, digital technology is established as a proven differentiator in a very competitive market. At News World Forum we will emphasise the consultancy side of our European business.”
Sony BPE will host a hospitality area in the lobby of the Fira Palace Hotel, where visitors can discuss news-related issues one-to-one with a team of Sony news industry specialists. Michael Rosenblum is a leading consultant on videojournalism and the use of small format digital cameras and delivery systems to produce broadcast quality television and webcasting.
Rosenblum will run a series of Videojournalism Workshops at News World. In these Rosenblum will look at 21st Century journalists who have a small digital camera and a laptop edit system from which they can produce stories for video or webcasting.
Rouse said: “Today, a trained reporter can replace a Beta crew, correspondent and producer, delivering a product that is superior both technically and editorially, Michael Rosenblum is a visionary in this field. His explanation is so compelling that not only do you find yourself believing it, you make it happen.”
During the workshops, Rosenblum will use a variety of Sony equipment including the 6mm DVCAM DSR-70P portable edit recorder and DSR-PD150P palmcorder. The Betacam SX DNW-7P camcorder and the DNW-A225 laptop editor will represent half-inch production equipment. Underscoring the importance of audio in videojournalism, Rosenblum will demonstrate the Sony VJ1 microphone.
