AUTOCUE APPOINT MARKETING DIRECTOR

AUTOCUE have appointed Adrian Scott as their Marketing Director, with a specific responsibility for developing the company's business in software-based news technology.
Scott said: “It is a big move for me after spending so long with basically the same product line. It's also a big challenge. Autocue is, of course, the name in prompting, but few people realise that with the WinCue products they have made a lot of progress in newsroom and transmission automation as well. I am really excited about helping them achieve their very significant potential in these areas. I'm also greatly looking forward to working with my old friends Jim Lucas and Mick Gould and I'm flattered that I should be the first major recruit since their highly successful MBO earlier this year.”
Scott has been involved with broadcast newsroom computing since 1982, when he joined TV-am as an Executive Producer and used the first version of the BASYS system. Joining BASYS as Head of European Sales in 1985, he spent 15 years with the company, until recently being appointed Vice-President of EMEA marketing at iNEWS, the company’s latest corporate identity.
Lucas and Gould, who have directed Autocue’s UK operations for over 20 years, recently acquired, along with Gould's US-based brother Peter, a majority interest in Autocue International.
Autocue Director, Jim Lucas, said “This is a significant step for us, Adrian Scott has a big reputation in this business and has achieved major success in his career. His appointment should send a message to the industry that we are taking newsroom automation very seriously indeed and see it as a big growth area.”
