NFTS BOARD RE-APPOINTMENTS ANNOUNCED

FILMS Minister Janet Anderson has announced the re-appointment of four members of the 19-strong Board of Governors at the National Film and Television School (NFTS).
The re-appointed members are: Tim Bevan, Producer, Working Title Films; Roger Bolton, General Secretary of BECTU; John McVay, Director, The Research Centre for Television and Interactivity Media, Channel 4 Television; and Kate Wilson, formerly Chief Executive of the The Film Consortium, and now an independent Business Affairs Consultant specialising in Film Finance.
Tim Bevan was the Executive Producer of ‘Four Wedings and a Funeral’ and ‘Notting Hill’ as well as a number of other successful UK films including, ‘My Beautiful Laundrette’, ‘The Tall Guy’, ‘Bean’, and Oscar winning features ‘Elizabeth’, ‘Dead Man Walking’ and ‘Fargo’.
Roger Bolton became the General Secretary of BECTU in 1993 after 24 years of service to the Union. He worked for nine years as Branch Secretary on a voluntary basis at the BBC, and 15 years as a full-time official. Bolton has also helped his local Labour Party in the run up to the last General Election.
John McVay was formerly Director of Training at Scottish Screen Training and Chief Executive of Scottish Broadcast and Film Training. A former musician, he spent some years in the recording industry before moving across to film production. For a time McVay ran the Edinburgh Video Training Course, giving disadvantaged groups the opportunity to enter the broadcasting industry.
Kate Wilson was the Chief Executive of The Film Consortium, one of three National Lottery film production franchises. Wilson was formerly Managing Director of British Screen Finance, having originally joined the company as Director of Business Affairs.
The re-appointments took effect from November 1, 2000 and will run until October 31, 2003.
