AIREY OVERHAULS C5 PROGRAMMING DEPARTMENT
DAWN Airey has announced changes to the Channel 5 programming department following her elevation to Chief Executive.
Airey (pictured) is to keep her role as Director of Programmes as well as her new Chief Executive duties but has appointed two Senior Programme Controllers from her existing programme to streamline reporting structures. She has also promoted Ashley Hill, currently Controller of Programming Planning, to Director of Broadcasting.
Hill will take on additional responsibility for the schedule budget, departmental administration and presentation. He will continue to report directly to Airey, as will Controller of Acquisitions Jeff Ford.
Airey said: “Obviously taking on the Chief Executive duties since David Elstein’s departure has meant that some streamlining of the programming department reporting structure is necessary, though I will continue to have direct creative contact with all Controllers.”
The Senior Programme Controllers will be Michael Attwell, currently Controller of Features and Arts, and Chris Shaw, currently Controller of News, Current Affairs and Documentaries. Both will continue to oversee their respective programming areas.
