KEEP WATCH PARTNERS !NEWS FOR NEWSROOM SYSTEMS
CONVERGENCE newscasting solutions provider ‘!NEWS’ have announced a partnership with UK-based Keep Watch System, an independent systems integration, development and consulting company.
Strengthened by Keep Watch’s archiving technology, the !NEWS Newsroom Computer System (NRCS) supports multimedia text retrieval requirements for broadcast journalists and archive specialists.
Currently, broadcasters such as the BBC, CNN, and SIC in Portugal are adopting web-enabled archiving technology for storage solutions. These provide full feature client-server interface for direct input to and editing of digital material. Future enhancements will include the systems ability to link to !NEWS Media Browse 2000 video assets.
Richard Butler, Managing Director of Keep Watch Systems, said: “!NEWS has the best-engineered newsroom solution in the industry. Knowing this, our decision to align our technology with their newsroom system was not only simple, but proved to be a value-add for both companies.”
Advancing Keep Watch’s plans for embedded OCX control, journalists working within the NRCS and Media Browse systems can use drag and drop features to save production time. With OCX control, Keep Watch will receive a link to the Media Browse server for the provision of links between running orders and their respective media objects.
Other key features of the archive technology include Unicode compatibility for interchanging, processing and displaying written texts of multiple languages, advanced reporting abilities often valuable for statistical purposes, an ability to amalgamate search results, the capability to link a running order to a story and the story to the running order, and also has the capacity to process data that is in the form of graphs, audio, or links to other stations relational databases.
