AVITEL LAUNCH ASI DISTRIBUTION AMPLIFIER

THE FIRST batch of Avitel's new Asynchronous Interface Distribution Amplifier (ASI DA), shown in pre-production form at IBC 2000, is now being launched.
With customer deliveries expected before Christmas, the ASI DA, which will be available for both the existing K-series rack frame (as the DDA3356K) and the forthcoming 3400 series frame (as the DDA3456), provides eight outputs, along with a relay connection output for external alarm signalling. The DDA3356K/3456 has features of interest for customers using ASI as a means of transporting compressed digital video services. It has been designed in conjunction with Avitel's new digital video/ASI eight by two switcher module to provide a range of modules to be used in ASI redundancy systems.
An input cable length performance in excess of 180m has been demonstrated under real operating conditions.
In addition to distributing ASI, the DDA3356K can also provide distribution for serial digital video signals.
As with all of Avitel's advanced modular products, centralised monitoring and control is provided via the Avitel DART system and the units are covered by the Avitel lifetime no-quibble guarantee.
