IBC announce key appointment

IBC have announced that Peter Owen is to take the role of Chairman of the IBC Council, charged with reaffirming the importance of industry feedback in sustaining the organisation's position at the cutting edge of the content creation, management and delivery marketplace.
Owen will take his position from January 1 2003, while his current deputy John Holton will succeed him as Exhibition Chairman.
IBC President John Wilson, said: "Peter's reputation and contacts are ideally suited to ensure IBC receives the best advice from knowledgeable people. The electronic media market has been expanding rapidly beyond the broadcasting roots and one of Peter's main tasks will be to ensure that the IBC Council remains representative of our diverse and dynamic industry. For us a truly international mix of contributors, representing the three elements of our marketplace, remains a priority."
He added: "During this period IBC has continued to invest in its office-based resources allowing Exhibition Manager Robin Lince and his team to take more direct control of operational issues as the Exhibition has grown.
"John Holton has been a contributor to IBC since its early days both as a senior committee member and as an exhibitor. He is undoubtedly a talented and successful businessman who has much to contribute in the Chairman's role."
