MARANTZ ON COURSE FOR SUCCESS AT LIPA

THE LIVERPOOL Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) have purchased four Marantz PMD650 Portable Minidisc Recorders for use in conjunction with their in-house radio and video facilities.
The PMD650s will be used on location by students studying for the Sound Technology BA degree, recording interviews for radio and audio for video. The Sound Technology degree includes broadcast and video sound modules in the second and third years curricula.
Lecturer in Radio Production Pete Smith (pictured) said: “The flexibility of the Marantz PMD650’s Minidisc format allows recorded material to be transferred to ¼” reel or PC based workstations. I’m very impressed with the build quality of the Marantz PMD650. These recorders are going to be used extensively at LIPA and they need to be robust enough to cope with the knocks they will inevitably have to take on a regular basis. I also like the safety features, particularly the way the table of contents is continually being updated as the unit records.”
The PMD650 Portable Minidisc Recorder has been designed with operational flexibility and security of recorded material as primary considerations.
Features include a 20 second buffer memory for shock resistant recording, continuous TOC update while recording and optional dual level mono recording mode, for a secure a back-up on the second channel, in the event of a signal overload on the main channel.
