Olympus Unveil New Audio Recorders

News Image
Olympus has revealed four new audio recorders; the VP-10, WS-852, WS-853 and the VN-741PC.

The VP-10 is a new product category for Olympus; it has a pen-like design and is equipped with high sensitivity stereo microphones for clear 360° recordings. The Olympus VP-10 digital recorder is the first of its kind to offer Anti-Rustle technology in a compact body, making it ideal for recording even when in the user's pocket.

Weighing 1.3oz, the recorder allows for light-weight, hands-free recording, and is paired with three settings of Anti-Rustle technology (HIGH, LOW, OFF). This latest innovation prevents common device rubbing and brushing from interfering with capturing high-quality sound.

The VP-10 comes with 4GB of internal memory, and allows for 1,620 hours of recordings before users have to download files to a computer. Once the user has finished recording and ready to share, the files can be downloaded using the VP-10's Direct USB Connection.

The product also offers one-touch recording. By sliding down the REC switch, the recorder instantly starts recording even when the power is off. The slide switch is located on the top of the recorder, ideal for operating inside a shirt pocket or without having to look up from what you are doing.

The WS-852 and WS-853 digital recorders have been designed for meetings and conferences. Both are equipped with a True Stereo Mic System, with dual stereo microphones delivering high quality, low noise recordings. They have a 90° layout, suitable for capturing voice input from several people in a room, such as meetings.

The mics provide a realistic stereo feel to make it easier for the listener to correctly attribute the contributions being made among those speaking in the recording. The Intelligent Auto Mode ensures recording levels are automatically adjusted to optimal levels. The WS-852 provides 4GB of storage space for 1,070 hours of audio capture. The rechargeable WS-853 features 8GB memory for a higher maximum recording time.

Similarly equipped with Intelligent Auto Mode, the VN-741PC incorporates a low noise omni-directional microphone for recording sound from all directions. User's can choose between simple and normal mode for operation. In simple mode, only basic information is shown on the display in large text to enhance intuitive operation, making the recorder an ideal day-to-day companion to take along everywhere.

Due to built-in USB interfaces, all four of the above audio recorders can be connected directly to a computer to transfer recordings, without the need for cables. Battery charging is also possible in this manner for the VP-10 and the WS-853.

These new models are available now. The VP-10 is priced at £79,99; the WS-852 at £59.99; WS-852 at £69.99; and the VN-741PC at £44.99.
