HTV PLANS WELSH WINTER SUCCESS

HTV Wales’ programmes have experienced one of their most successful years, and the launch of their Christmas and winter schedule aims to firmly maintain their position as the most-watched channel in Wales.
Major drama, new documentaries, magazine programmes and entertainment shows are amongst the line up for the coming months.
Launching the schedule, Elis Owen, HTV Wales Controller and Director of Programmes, said: “We have an exciting range of programmes for the New Year which shows the breadth of our coverage in Wales and showcases the talent of programme-makers here in HTV and in the independent sector.
“This autumn we’ve had tremendous success with our local programming like ‘Nuts & Bolts’ going out five nights a week - showing that a Welsh soap can hold its own with any network programme - and the consumer series ‘The Ferret’ reaches 46 per cent of the audience, proving the popularity of this type of consumer affairs programme.”
In addition to major drama, ‘Mind to Kill’ and ‘The Testimony of Taliesin Jones’, the winter schedule includes a ‘High Performance Special’ going behind the scenes during filming for ITV’s drama ‘Hornblower’ which stars Welsh actor, Ioan Gruffudd.
