GEE INSTALL NEW DIGITAL FILM LAB FACILITY

DIGITAL Film Lab chose Clerkenwell in London to house their new facility installed by Gee Broadcast.
Gee Broadcast worked closely with Digital Film Lab to create a flexible and powerful system designed around Philips’ Spirit DataCine and VooDoo Recorder. These are integrated with an Arri Laser Film Recorder and Discreet Inferno.
Gee Broadcast also provided a Pinnacle Deko Character Generator for titling. Videotek VTM units provide video measurement and display on matching high resolution VGS screens to ensure the best quality images.
Digital Film Lab UK offers filmmakers the opportunity to grade and assemble their feature films in real-time, completely replacing intermediate laboratory process and delivering both a digital negative as well as an uncompressed HD master.
Film can be transported from the Spirit DataCine directly into Voodoo as uncompressed D6 data. Feature films shot on S16mm, 35mm or digital video, as well as film archives and commercials for cinema release, can be digitally mastered and graded in real-time. This removes the editing restrictions imposed by traditional laboratory methods and allows seamless assembly and integration of digital shots.
Digital Film Lab UK have aimed to recreate the relaxed Scandinavian feel of their parent facility in Denmark.
With the Copenhagen facility fully booked, an additional facility in the post capital of Europe is seen as an important move for the company.
