Alticast at IBC: innovative PVR extension for MHP

Alticast, a leader in MHP middleware worldwide, will unveil its latest technology making it possible to record and play back interactive applications along with audio/video data at IBC in Amsterdam this September.
The new middleware extension, altiCaptor-PVR, uses the latest MHP-PDR (Multimedia Home Platform-Personal Digital Recorder) standard. altiCaptor-PVR makes it possible to control all digital PVR functions with MHP. Until now, interactive applications could not be recorded. With altiCaptor-PVR, applications can be recorded and played back exactly as they are broadcast and retain their interactive functionalities. The middleware supports the newest chipsets from NEC and ST Microelectronics.
“Alticast is extraordinarily well prepared for continued success with MHP deployments. altiCaptor MHP is deployed in over two million set-top boxes worldwide, and with the addition of the altiCaptor-PVR extension to our portfolio of MHP solutions, we can add even more value to the digital television experience for viewers,” said Karl Harner, Director of Business Development and Sales for Alticast, Europe.
Alticast will also showcase its many solutions for OCAP and IPTV at IBC. altiComposer can easily create and modify interactive applications without much programming effort making it easy for content providers, cable or satellite operators to execute their own ideas.
altiEmulator is a PC-based MHP set top box simulation program that allows developers to easily and effectively test and debug their commercial applications for set-top boxes. It is equipped with a virtual remote control to check button programming and for easy testing.
And, as the exclusive provider of IPTV middleware for the telecommunication company Korean Telecom (KT) and in cooperation with NDS and Tandberg Alticast is taking the lead as a trendsetter for innovations. Based on successful end-to-end solutions for MHP, OCAP and DMB, Alticast has managed to expand into another important business sector for the future.
