HEAD OF LIGHT ENTERTAINMENT TO LEAVE BBC

BBC Head of Light Entertainment, David Young, will be leaving the corporation in March to take on the position of Managing Director at Hat Trick Productions new joint venture.
Young has been at the BBC for 18 months and is responsible for the hit game show ‘The Weakest Link’ and ‘Friends Like these’. Young is cited as the person responsible for injecting new life into the BBC’s light entertainment output.
Mick Beale another senior BBC Light Entertainment Executive will also be leaving the BBC to join Young at Hat Trick Productions as Deputy Managing Director of the new joint venture.
Young had worked previously for Hat Trick Productions up until 1997, devising the ‘Whatever You Want’ format. Later he worked at Bazal before moving to the BBC.
Details of the new joint venture have not yet been released although it is expected it will focus on the production of popular entertainment across all terrestrial, cable and satellite channels. (CMcL)
