MIDDLE-EASTERN FLAVOUR AT EDINBURGH FILMHOUSE

MORE than 25 features and five shorts will be shown at the Arab Mediterranean Film Festival at the Edinburgh Filmhouse.
Guest appearances by filmmakers and actors will offer a rare chance to experience the best of Middle Eastern cinema. The festival will run from February 9-22 and is part of a European Union project to promote film production in Arab-speaking countries.
The titles range from early neo-realist classics such as ‘The Will’ and ‘Cairo Station’ through to ‘Land of Fear’ and ‘Closed Doors’.
Guest speakers will include the Egyptian Director, Mohammed Khan, and French-Algerian Filmmaker, Bourlem Guerdjou.
The festival has been organised in association with the Bologna Archive, with funding from the City of Edinburgh Council and the European Commission’s Cinemamed project, which works to support film production in Arab countries. (CD)
