Film line-up for Edinburgh Film Festival revealed

The 56th Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) will open on Wednesday August 14 with 'Morvern Callar' – the second feature from Scottish director Lynne Ramsay, whose debut film 'Ratcatcher' opened EIFF in 2000.
Closing the Festival 13 days later is 'Insomnia', starring Oscar winners Al Pacino, Robin Williams and Hilary Swank, and is a police thriller directed by Christopher Nolan - the acclaimed British director of 'Momento'. Christopher Nolan will also be involved in the Reel Life event where he, and other leading talents in filmmaking, will lead masterclasses.
For the Festival Gala section, amongst the many international and UK premieres, will be: 'Tadpole', starring Sigourney Weaver and Bebe Neuwirth; 'Buffalo Soldiers', a black comedy staring Joaquin Phoenix, Ed Harris, Anna Paquin and Scott Glenn; and 'Rabbit Proof Fence', Philip Noyce's powerful film revisits one of the darkest chapters of Australian history - the stolen generation of Aboriginal children - starring Kenneth Branagh and with an original score by Peter Gabriel.
Also featured are 'Changing Lanes' with Samuel L Jackson, Ben Affleck and Toni Collette, 'One Hour Photo' starring Robin Williams, and Bill Paxton's directorial debut, 'Frailty', a terrifying study of religious obsession.
The British Gala section will show films such as Mike Leigh's 'All Or Nothing', 'Heartlands', and 'Once Upon A Time In The Midlands' which boasts a line-up including Rhys Ifans, Robert Carlyle, Shirley Henderson and Kathy Burke.
The Eyes Of The World section features new films from leading international directors and The Rosebud section consists of new films from first and second-time directors. The Document section (formerly Imagining Reality) showcases exceptional non-fiction films from all over the world and there high-octane series Late Night Romps will also be held.
This year visitors can buy tickets to new films and read articles about films online. Telephone and postal bookings are open from Saturday July 13 and in-person and online bookings from Saturday July 20. For credit card bookings, call 0131 623 8030 (12am-9pm daily pre-Festival, 10am-9pm daily during the Festival).
The central box office counter at The Filmhouse is open pre-festival 12am-9pm daily and during the festival 10am-9pm daily.
The satellite central box office at the UGC Cinema, Fountainbridge is open pre-festival 2pm-10pm daily and 10am-10pm daily during the festival. Counter sales and telephone bookings for the Glasgow Film Theatre (GFT) are available from Saturday July 20 on 0141 332 8128.
