Public sector expert brings new insight to London’s film team

It has been announced that Martin Pilgrim, the Chief Executive of the Association of London Government and a central figure in London’s local government network, has joined the board of Film London, the strategic agency for film in the capital.
Martin Pilgrim will bring his extensive experience in local government issues and his significant knowledge of the public sector to bear at Film London where he has already played a high profile role on the Film London Executive Task Force which has led to the formation of the first London Filming Partnership, the ground-breaking pan-London initiative which will make London one of the most film-friendly centres in the world.
Martin Pilgrim has dedicated his career to working in local government and, as CEO of the Association of London Government, is committed to improving the lives of Londoners through lobbying and providing the city’s 33 boroughs with the best possible service.
Sandy Lieberson, Chair of Film London, said: “In joining the board of Film London Martin Pilgrim brings an unparalleled understanding of the needs of local government. This is essential to Film London fulfilling its commitment to bring new opportunities to all the boroughs of London in the areas of film culture, job opportunities in the media and audience development.”
Martin Pilgrim will join the Film London Board of Governors, chaired by film-maker Sandy Lieberson and other members including Clare Binns (Director of City Screen), David Martin (Chief Executive of the Production Guild of Great Britain), Jeremy Thomas (Independent producer with Recorded Picture Company); John Akomfrah (Film Director); Lisbeth Savill (Head of Olswang Media); Tony Elliott (Chairman of the Time Out Group) and Will Clarke (Managing Director of Optimum Releasing).
