NEW MD FOR PANASONIC BROADCAST EUROPE

DIRECTOR of Technology at ITN, Ted Taylor, has been appointed Managing Director of Panasonic Broadcast Europe (PBE), with effect from 1st March 2001.
Taylor joined ITN in 1971 and has held a number of senior positions, including ITN’s Director of Technology since 1989. During this time it was his task to update ITN on advances in technology for the television industry.
Taylor (pictured) said: “I’ve had a tremendously rewarding career at ITN, working at the forefront of some of the major technological advances in broadcasting over three decades. I’m content to be leaving the company in very good shape for the digital future. Now I’m looking forward to a brand new challenge developing Panasonic Broadcast’s growing business in Europe. The company have an excellent track record of turning their innovative technology solutions into cost effective, practical products.
“In recent years this has been convincingly illustrated by the success of the DVC PRO family of products which cater for users’ needs from corporate, through news and traditional programme makers to producers of high definition programmes”.
Stewart Purvis, Chief Executive of ITN, said: “ITN has been at the forefront of developing new engineering techniques for television news production. Over the years Ted has played the leading role in many key developments, including the introduction of ENG in the 1980s and the move to a fully digital newsroom for the 21st century, both pioneered by ITN. We wish Ted the very best of luck at Panasonic.”
ITN’s new Director of Technology Keith Cass will take over from Taylor in February. Cass joined ITN in 1980 from Marconi as a broadcast support engineer. In 1993 he was appointed Head of Central and Technical Services and Head of IT and Communications in 1995. (CMcL)
