CARLTON ACTIVE APPOINT PETER BIRCH

CARLTON Active, a division of Carlton Television responsible for the development of interactive programming and advertising, have announced the appointment of Peter Birch as the company’s Commercial Director.
Formerly with Granada Television, Birch will oversee the selling of interactive advertising opportunities and production services to advertisers and their agencies. He will also market Carlton Active’s interactive television programme production services to ITV and other broadcasters.
Birch’s sales career began at LWT in 1992 and he then moved to Granada where he became a Sales Manager working on ITV air time sales. Since 1998, he has been involved in developing and commercially exploiting Granada’s online interests pioneering woven content deals that break away from traditional online sales.
Birch said: “Interactive television has to be the most exciting area in the media industry today, and Carlton Active with their creative and technical talent are without a doubt leaders in the field. I’m really looking forward to building a dynamic team that can take up the challenge of maximising interactive advertising opportunities on ITV.”
Carlton Active, launched in May 2000, was established to work with programme makers, advertisers and their agencies to design and produce interactive programme content, interactive advertising, sales promotion and direct response opportunities. (CD)
