ZONE VISION ANNOUNCE JOINT VENTURE

UK BASED Zone Vision, one of the leading broadcasters and distributors of thematic channels in Europe, have entered into a joint venture with Showtime Networks, providers of television in the US, to launch Showtime Turkey.
The channel, which launched on January 15, 2001, is available on the direct-to-home platform DigiTurk, which is currently available throughout Turkey. The announcement was made jointly on February 5 by Glenn Oakley, Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy and International for Showtime Networks, and Chris Wronski, President and CEO of Zone Vision.
Wronski said: “The combination of the excellent Showtime programming and our vast experience in the production of thematic channels will create unprecedented accessibility to top quality movies. Together we will create a brand new quality in home movie entertainment allowing viewers to have access to the best theatrical and television films from leading producers.”
Showtime Turkey is a 24-hour service distributed exclusively to the Turkish market and is offered as part of the platform’s ‘Extra’ Package alternative. The service will be supported by advertisements and it will feature uninterrupted product and commercial breaks between programs. The programming will consist of studio action library product and will feature the following genres: action, adventure, sci-fi, suspense, thriller and horror.
The programming will be specifically acquired for use in Turkey and will reach viewers in the Turkish language because of DigiTurk’s dual language option service. (CD)
