RUSHES POST NEW FORD FOCUS COMMERCIAL
THE NEW commercial for the Ford Focus, shot by director Pedro Romanhyi and produced by Outsider Production Company, is the latest Ford commercial to hit our screens.
The commercial features a young man at a drive-in movie theatre watching his favourite action film, ‘Die Hard’. He inadvertently kicks his car stereo and sets off a silent SOS alarm. This leads to a huge military rescue operation, resulting in the young man looking very embarrassed indeed.
Post production company Rushes, did a considerable amount of 3D work for the commercial, including creating combat helicopters and a drive-in movie theatre to achieve the dramatic action sequences required.
John Paul Harney, 3D Operator from Rushes said, “Our main job was to create all but one of the helicopters in 3D. We acquired polygon mesh files from Viewpoint and started the process of adding texture.
“This involved using techniques to make them look used and dirty. We then animated the helicopters, giving them depth and perspective for the camera. We paid special attention to details on areas such as the rotor blades to make sure they were suitably blurred for speed and reality. We finally added environmental effects such as the reflection of red ambulance lights to fit in with the action in the shot plates.”
Telecine is an area where Rushes has a strong reputation in advanced in-house engineering and research and development.
The company has the world’s first pair of blueprinted Ursa Diamond telecines, as well as the world's first C-Reality from Cintel. These telecine suites have da Vinci Renaissance DUI 8:8:8 grading together with ‘Jump Free’ advanced image stabilisation and Kaleidoscope DVE. (AMcE)
