TSL extends TallyMan options

TSL, leading international independent broadcast systems integrator and manufacturer, has extended the capabilities of its groundbreaking TallyMan UMD and tally control system with the development of the ESP-1.
TallyMan is TSL's software-based tally and UMD control system. With the growing complexity of tally systems, and the increasing need for easy reconfiguration, TallyMan allows the user to interface to any third-party hardware and readily reconfigure the tally and UMD system as required.
TSL is now expanding TallyMan's market-leading capabilities even further with the launch of a new multipurpose interface called the ESP-1. This connects with the TallyMan controller via Ethernet and provides additional parallel 32 in and 32 out connections. A serial port can be used to connect to a serial tally source or it can be programmed for a router, or router control panel. The ESP-1 provides easy connectivity to the world's most advanced tally system.
Tim Whittaker, Director of Engineering, said: We recognise that as systems expand over time, and to take full advantage of the power of TallyMan, customers need a way to connect new pieces of equipment. The ESP-1 provides that connectivity. The product is also equipped with enough power to act as a web server, send emails, decode/send SNMP alarm messages and to interface to routers/mixers/display devices, whatever is required."
The OB community has already acknowledged the power of TallyMan with companies such as CTVOB and Bowtie TV selecting the system to enhance their capabilities.
TallyMan systems have also been specified and installed at both Meridian and Tyne Tees ITV. A single TallyMan system in each case is being used to provide better flexibility between three production areas and the associated multi-screen monitoring systems and vision mixers, three two-camera studios (controlled by a separate router) and the overall Pro-Bel master router. TallyMan allows the newsroom to allocate the camera feeds and studios as they desire.
Russell Grute, Head of Sales at TSL, said: "TallyMan provides the flexibility that is required in the latest studio and OB environments and allows systems to be configured easily. With the efficiencies that are now being demanded in modern broadcasting environments, TallyMan is the future."
