NFTS SCOOP FIRST PRIZE FOR KODAK COMMERCIAL
AT the recent Kodak Student Film Awards in Hemel Hampstead, George Amponsah and his team from the National Film and Television School (NFTS) in Beaconsfield won overall first prize with a commercial for Kodak single use cameras.
The overall winners received £3000 worth of film and equipment and a Kodak trophy which the school will keep.
Tobias Weber and the team from the London International Film School came second with their commercial for American Express. Third place went to Alastair Armstrong from Manchester Metropolitan University for a commercial for Solstis (an anti-tiredness drink).
The Awards which were offered in conjunction with Colour Film Services, who offered free processing of the commercials, attracted over 200 applications. The Kodak competition is organised into seven award categories consisting of five briefs for commercials, the craft awards (cinematography, creative and editing) and the overall awards.
Students from the Bournemouth Film School, part of the Arts Institute at Bournemouth walked away with five Kodak awards. Second and third year students from the Arts Institute won prizes in three briefs and were ranked fourth overall.
Keith Bartlett, Director of the School of Media at Bournemouth, said: “This is another outstanding achievement for students and staff of the BA (Hons) Film and Animation Production. The films produced for these awards were of an excellent quality and represent a huge amount of creative work of the very highest order. We are obviously delighted that the students have achieved success for the third year running.” (AMcE)
