NIFC ANNOUNCE EASTER FILM SCHOOL

THIS year marks the fifth anniversary of the Northern Ireland Film Commission’s (NIFC) highly successful Easter Film School.
An intensive introduction for prospective new entrants to the film industry, the course explores the production process from the initial script idea to the first screening. During the five days, trainees will learn about camera techniques, managing budgets, marketing, directing, editing and will also have some first hand experience filming on location.
Easter Film School graduates may have the opportunity to work on productions filmed on location in Northern Ireland this year. Over the past three years more than fifty per cent of trainees who completed the course are now working full time in the industry.
NIFC Training Officer Yvonne Turley is delighted to run the Easter Film School again in 2001. She said: "The Easter Film School provides new entrants with a vital opportunity to gain training and experience in the industry. The course forms an important link between formal theory and practical hands on work experience. In the past the course has proved to be an important springboard for talented young people to launch a successful career in the industry."
There is still time to apply for the Easter Film School which runs from April 30 to May 4, but places on this popular course are limited and competition for them is always considerable.
If you are interested in a career in film production, aged between 17 and 30, and live in Northern Ireland, call the NIFC on (028) 9023 2444 for an application pack.
The deadline for completed applications is April 9, 2001. (CD)
