FILM PRIZE FOR YSGOL DAVID HUGHES
FOUR pupils from Ysgol David Hughes, Porthaethwy, who won first prize in the Wales Cinema Day Schools Competition recently received their award.
The school's team, Sheena Brookwell, Glesni Haf, Llio Evans and Gwenno Jones, won the prize for their storyboard based on a Welsh story.
They chose Gwenno Hywyn’s ‘Dydi Pethau’n Gwella Dim!’ and the tasks included scripting a scene, producing a treatment and storyboard, and writing a letter that could be used to seek funding for the project.
The judges were Tom Barrance of Media Education Wales, Peter Edwards of HTV, and Berwyn Rowlands, Chief Executive of Sgrin.
The first prize was a Kodak Digital Camera, a set of Truffaut videos from MovieMail, the storyboarding CD-ROM, ‘Picture Power II’ from the English and Media Centre, and the chance to shoot and edit their scene on digital video with Media Education Wales.
The competition is organised as part of the annual Wales Cinema Day celebrations organised by Sgrin, which took place in January. (CD)
