Half HP chooses SSL digital technology on re-fit of main studio

Tokyo-based Half HP Studio has installed a Solid State Logic C200 Digital Production Console as part of a re-fit of its main audio facility, Stage 1.
Mr Nobuhira Hirano, Half HP Studio’s Chief Engineer, said: “Stage One is the most important room in the complex and is used by a number of high profile clients. For this reason we wanted a great console, so we chose the C200 because it offers the reliability and the flexibility that our clients demand. The analogue-style control surface was another deciding factor as it makes it very easy to operate, especially for freelance engineers.”
Half HP was established in 1984 as a sound production company. In 1995 it moved into post-production and began attracting work from a variety of clients, in particular animation companies. It now handles a number of cartoon sessions, including those for the 'Pokémon' (Pocket Monsters) television series, which has become increasingly popular around the world.
In 2001, Half HP Studio opened its first surround sound facility and digital video editing room in 2001.
The business was expanded again last year with the opening of a new audio facility and the upgrade of Stage 1. The company also opened a new studio for ADR work.
