Strategy aims to help creative industries in London
Mayor of London Ken Livingstone, Minister for London Keith Hill and London Development Agency Chief Executive Manny Lewis will tomorrow unveil a new Economic Development Strategy for the capital.
Written by the Mayor’s London Development Agency, the strategy sets out a plan for the fair and healthy development of London’s economy up to 2016. As part of the plan, the Mayor will announce a series of measures to help the creative industries in the capital, one of London’s most dynamic economic sectors.
Since the launch of Film London, the level of filming across London boroughs has increased significantly. The new film 'Closer, starring Julia Roberts and Jude Law, was produced with the help of Film London. Closer showcased London as an attractive film location, being shot at famous locations such as The Gherkin in the City of London as well as lesser-known locations such as Postman’s Park in EC1.
The Economic Development Strategy launch will take place at the National Film Theatre, South Bank, London SE1 from 9am to 11am on Thursday January 20.
