SKY NEWS GIVE TOTAL INTERACTIVE COVERAGE OF ELECTION
SKY News, one of the UK’s original and leading 24-hour news services, have announced a programme of cutting-edge, informative coverage of the forthcoming General Election.
The channel will have a team of highly regarded journalists led by Political Editor, Adam Boulton, and will utilise pioneering interactive services such as the Active Election Special on election night.
Two daily editions of Sky News’ interactive feedback programme, ‘Election Your Call’, will allow viewers to comment by phone, email, fax and through Sky News Active’s voting service. Sky News’ website, www.sky.com/news, will be dedicated to providing the instantaneous election updates online. Coverage will also be accessible on WAP and PDAs via Avant Go.
At a glance, viewers will be able to access the latest news from the rival camps on the constantly updating Sky News `Election Ticker’. And every 15 minutes, Sky News will show who’s winning the race for Number Ten with a unique opinion poll graphic, giving viewers an update from all the major polling companies, plus the Sky News Poll of Polls.
Sky News’ reputation for award-winning, quality journalism has been further underlined by numerous exclusives during the recent Foot and Mouth crisis. For the election, Target Teams will be following the leaders around Britain, consisting of some of Sky News’ top reporters, including Richard Bestic with Blair and Emma Hurd with Hague.
Boulton said: “In many ways, whichever channel you choose to watch this General Election, you’ll be watching Sky News. That’s because other channels have tried to clone, copy or just plain rip-off many of the innovations we’ve brought to political coverage in previous campaigns. So the choice is yours: watch the others copying us, or watch the real thing.” (CD)
