AVID ANNOUNCE AVAILABILITY OF AVID XPRESS 2.0

AT THE NAB conference Avid Technology announced that Avid Xpress DV version 2.0 software is now available.
Avid Xpress DV version 2.0 software delivers professional video editing, audio, effects, titling, media management, and Total Conform to other Avid products that customers have come to expect from Avid. The next-generation software-only version allows professional field editing on notebook computers with many new features, a breakthrough price, lightning speed, and ease of use.
Avid Xpress DV version 2.0 software offers a powerful new portable alternative for new and seasoned Avid Xpress DV users. Requiring only a qualified notebook or workstation and an inexpensive DV In/Out card, it's a powerful and complete professional studio. Version 2.0 allows content creators to seamlessly deliver media to the Web, to DVD, to tape, and to the world - from wherever creativity demands.
To deliver outstanding performance, Avid Xpress DV version 2.0 software has been re-architected to exploit the combined power and performance of Intel Pentium III and Pentium 4 processors up to 1.5GHz and the Microsoft Windows 2000 operating system with no additional hardware except a DV In/Out card.
Product Marketing Manager for Avid Xpress DV, Charlie Russell, said: "First, it's the ideal, all-in-one powerhouse for seasoned pros doing DV projects, for independents and smaller facilities, and for low-cost offline editing. Second, it's the personal Avid system many Avid editors and other professionals have been craving. Third, it's an easy-to-use portable companion to Media Composer and other Avid systems for those who've never before considered owning an Avid system."
Based on the 11th-generation of Avid's award-winning technology, the toolset includes professional video editing, effects, audio, titling, compositing, graphics, interoperability, and digital delivery tools. Projects are compatible with Avid Media Composer, Symphony and Avid Xpress systems, allowing Total Conform and dramatically better bi-directional workflow than merely EDL or OMF transfer. Every subtlety of a project is transferred, not just basic dissolves and effects but titles, layers, dynamic audio levels and mix, keyframes, customised effects, colour correction, AudioSuite, AVX plug-ins, and batch import information.
The easy-to-use interface features One-Step Technology, the same great interface as Avid Xpress based on the legendary Media Composer interface. To make it easy to learn, it all comes bundled with an award-winning interactive tour and tutorial. (CD)
