YES TELEVISION TO CREATE NEW JOBS

YES Television, one of the global leaders in digital interactive television, are to create up to 210 new jobs in Cardiff, with associated capital investment of up to £23 million.
The Welsh Assembly’s First Minister, Rhodri Morgan, announced the investment by Yes Television during a visit to the company’s offices in Cardiff Bay.
Yes Television already employs over 100 staff at its Cardiff offices and a further 75 people in offices in London, Hong Kong, Sydney, Melbourne and Los Angeles.
Yes Television are best known as developers of Video-on-Demand (VOD) services, but seamlessly blends these with broadcast channels, Internet access and email to create a comprehensive and unique interactive television experience, all on a standard TV. The company is breaking new ground in other ways too, by delivering their TV services using standard Internet technology over telephone lines, cable systems and advanced fibre networks.
The National Assembly are providing substantial financial support for Yes Television's expansion in Cardiff Bay through the Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) grant scheme. The project will see the creation of a global development and integration centre in Cardiff Bay.
Rhodri Morgan said: "Yes Television are establishing themselves as world leaders in digital interactive television and are on target to become one of Wales' finest blue chip companies. Since establishing a base in Cardiff Bay in 1998, Yes Television's development team has grown to over 100 staff and is going from strength to strength. I am absolutely delighted that the National Assembly's financial support has helped to ensure that the company's latest project is implemented here in Wales.”
"I am deeply impressed by the company's team approach, its innovative product and dedicated, professional commitment to the global success of the Yes services. The Assembly is proud to be associated with Yes Television's continued success.
"Recent figures show that Digital Media is the fastest growing sector of industry in Wales and that Wales is leading the field in developing broadband services."
Thomas Kressner, the Chairman and Chief Executive of Yes Television said that the support of the Assembly reflected Wales' understanding of the contribution that broadband services would make to the world economy. (CD)
