RTÉ CO-PRODUCTION RECEIVES MAJOR AWARD
A documentary co-produced by RTÉ has won a special award at this year’s Banff Television Festival in Canada.
‘The Gold Rush’ a three-part documentary shown last year on RTÉ One, takes a critical look at the financial aspect of sports and the price paid by athletes striving for excellence. It received the ‘Special Jury Award’ for outstanding achievement, given to productions deemed worthy of special recognition.
Chairman of the EBU Documentary Group, Axel Arno, said: “It is very encouraging for the work that the EBU Documentary Group are doing, underscoring as it does the importance of co-productions. I hope this award will help generate more future collaborations and result in more co-productions of similarly high quality.”
Kevin Dawson, Commission Editor of Factual Programmes is RTÉ’s representative on the EBU Documentary Group.
Banff is a major international documentary festival and the event is a prestigious showcase for the world’s best television programmes and webcasts. (CD)
