IRISH FILM BOARD ANNOUNCE KEY APPOINTMENTS
THE IRISH Film Board today announced new appointments to the company in light of continued expansion and consolidation in the Irish film industry.
The primary role of the Irish Film Board is to promote both the creative and commercial development of Irish film-making. Since their inception in 1993, the Film Board have been responsible for over 75 feature films, television drama series, documentaries and animation films and have seen their budget grow from £1m to £7.65m.
The new appointments include Brendan McCarthy as Head of Production and Development, bearing overall responsibility for the Film Board’s development and production activities, being the main point of contact with Irish producers wishing to develop feature films and television drama.
Carol Ann Docherty has been appointed to the role of Development Manager. Carol-Ann who worked as a series script editor for Granada and the BBC (most recently on the sixth series of Ballykissangel) was an Executive Producer on Nice Guy Eddie shown by the BBC on June 14.
In her new role, she will help select and manage the development of projects submitted to the Board, strengthening the development of individual scripts. In addition to tracking all projects in development and providing analysis of script drafts, she will co-ordinate appropriate resources, courses and specialist script editors for individual projects.
