Axia Audio announce Prophet Systems partnership

Axia Audio has announced a partnership with Prophet Systems Innovations, makers of the world-renowned NexGen Digital Broadcasting automation system.
As part of the partnership agreement, Prophet will license the Axia IP-Audio Driver for their NexGen application software, allowing their workstations and servers to send multiple channels of real-time uncompressed digital audio over the Axia network - without PC soundcards. Additionally, Prophet Systems will offer Axia audio networking devices for resale when bundled along with NexGen system packages.
"I think the Axia model will truly redefine how the broadcast industry approaches device interconnection and systems integration," said Jeff Zigler, Vice President of Sales for Prophet Systems. "By exploiting the power and flexibility of Ethernet, the Axia system allows for much tighter integration between the hard drive audio system and studio routing systems and control surfaces. We are very excited about this partnership."
Mogan David, Market Chief Engineer for Federated Media's WOWO in Fort Wayne, Indiana, is delighted by news of the partnership. "Next year we intend to buy new automation systems, and we've been looking at how the Axia and Prophet systems work together," David said. "One thing that really interests me is Axia's sound-card replacement capability. Using Axia and Prophet, I can wire up 8 sources into and out of my automation system with one Ethernet cable! That alone saves about two days worth of work.
"Not only that, Axia makes a very large, scalable router topology available to guys like me, in smaller markets, who can't afford $70,000 to $90,000 for a router. With Axia, I can start small and ramp up to 128x128 - or maybe even afford to get it all at once, since it's about half the price of a mainframe router."
