EDITWARE, the total editing solution company will showcase Fastrack VS, a powerful hybrid editing system at IBC 2001.
The result of an ongoing development partnership with LIFT GmbH of Hamburg, Germany, Fastrack VS was developed for real-time video server editing and playout to provide the perfect combination of non-linear and linear editing. Fastrack VS delivers the speed and flexibility of a non-linear editor along with the multi-channel capability and high quality effects of a linear editing system.
Designed for use with video servers such as the Grass Valley Group Profile, the Sony MAV-555, and Accom's Abekas 6000, Fastrack VS gives the operator the linear editing ability to utilize a video switcher, digital video effects device, and powerful audio mixer along with additional equipment in a non-linear environment. The Fastrack VS operator has the ability to immediately cue, search, select and display any clip from anywhere on the video server. Edited material can then be inserted anywhere in a timeline without giving the real-time multi-channel effects available with a high end video switcher. Additionally, the operator can edit directly to and from tape.
Fastrack VS's object-oriented scripting interface is extremely adaptable for specialized scenarios, allowing the operator to write customized EDL import/export filters or use pre-defined scripts. The operator can create dialogs to interface with databases or asset management systems to manage reels, metadata, and archiving functions. Object-oriented scripting allows the operator to trigger specific actions when predefined events such as GPI trigger, time of day, or completion of playout occur.
